Sagittarius Season begins as the Sun’s light reaches its lowest arc in the Northern Hemisphere. After Scorpio’s depths of transformation, Sagittarius lifts the gaze toward the horizon, the symbol of higher truths, broader perspectives, and the flame of wisdom that guides us through the dark.
In the body, Sagittarius governs the hips, thighs, and liver: the structures that allow us to stride forward on our path. When we release tension in the hips and thighs, we reconnect with our inner sense of freedom and movement. When we allow energy to flow through the liver (often the storehouse of unprocessed frustration) we can transform intensity into forward momentum, using our deepest emotions as fuel for truth. The energy of Sagittarius transcends the physical and moves us toward spiritual momentum: the willingness to explore what lies beyond the known, to move toward truth even when it challenges our comfort zone.
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and meaning, which encourages optimism and faith in the greater pattern of nature and life. This season reminds us that every experience, whether difficult or delightful, is a teacher. The fires of Sagittarius illuminate the understanding that wisdom is found in integration that comes as you bring all parts of your journey and your seeking into your conscious awareness.
The hips are both stabilizers and gateways of movement. They anchor the spine while granting mobility. This mirrors the Sagittarian quality of anchoring into your own deeply-held truth while recognizing that truth is universal: alive in all places, all people, and all experiences. When the hips are tight or unstable, we may feel confined, restless, or resistant to growth and truth. When stable and mobile, we feel supported in our expansion and enthusiastic to take the next leap.
Sagittarius connects with the Svadhisthana (sacral) chakra, the seat of creativity, pleasure, and emotional intelligence. This chakra governs how we engage with life’s experiences, including our ability to feel, adapt, and create. Through postures that balance strength and flexibility within the hips, we connect to Sagittarius, freeing the energy needed to explore our unique path that will ultimately guide us to experiential knowledge of higher truths.
Sagittarius season invites movement, exploration, and higher insights. This is a time to follow what inspires you, and remember that truth is always exposed in the realms of exploration, experience, and integration.
Practice dynamic yoga movement within warrior postures
Tap into the energy in your liver to see what is ready to release, and what is ready to motivate you forward
Journal prompts like: “What in life is sparking curiosity within me? “Where would I most like to go on Earth? Where in my life am I internalizing frustration instead of using it as a tool to move forward?”
These postures find the balance between strength and flexibility in the hips and thighs, creating stability and ease in all your travels.
Virabhadrasana II (Warrior II): Grounds energy into the legs and hips, while extending awareness toward the horizon.
Baddha Virabhadrasana (Humble Warrior): Grounds mental energy while strengthening/creating flexibility in the hips
Akarna Dhanurasana (Archer Pose): Promotes mobility in Sagittarius-ruled regions and helps to draw focus toward a single aim.
