Libra is the sign connected to the directional air element. In AstroYoga, air represents the intellect, relationships, and the ability to trace connections between action and reaction. Libra energy shows us the hidden connections from our current experiences to the past and the future. Libra also shows us how our actions, thoughts, and speech impact those around us.
Ruled by Venus, Libra is all about refining relationships, thoughts, and actions in order to create a more harmonious world. In astrology, Libra represents the capacity to be in relationship with all aspects of life in a harmonious way. Libra teaches the art of considering the energetic pathways our choices initiate, and the ultimate impact of those choices on ourselves and others.
During Libra season, there’s an invitation to reassess how you relate to others, refine your communication, and create harmony for yourself and others by choosing vibrationally-aligned pathways.
This Libra season brings some cosmic shifts, since it coincides with eclipse season and includes a solar eclipse in Libra at the new moon. This means that impactful changes can happen this eclipse season, and you may have an increased chance to find clarity and deep power within yourself to fuel you on your path forward.
In astrology, Libra is associated with the lower back, kidneys, and adrenal glands. These areas create balance in the body in terms of the whole body in space (with the low back), the blood chemistry (with the kidneys), and energetic output (with the adrenals).
Libra is also connected to the heart chakra, the energetic center of love and the true center of your being. The heart chakra is where you experience loving connection with others and yourself, and in association with Libra, it represents the need to create balance between self-love and the love you give to others.
During Libra season, it’s important to tend these areas with care. Yoga postures that focus on opening the heart and creating space in the lower spine, such as Supported Bridge Pose, can help align you with the energy of Libra. I suggest practicing these postures on the Öko Living Yin Yang Yoga Rug to amplify the sense of harmonious balance in your practice.
As you move through Libra season, seek to find balance in life by taking action in right measure to your present circumstances. Pay attention to your relationships, communications, and inner dialogue–notice where you can take action to create more harmony. Embrace the messy beauty of life, and cultivate peace both within yourself and with others. Allow the insights you gain during Libra season to guide you to selecting the path forward you most want to travel, so you can step into alignment with love and your highest desires
