Does everything I was hoping for!
I needed a softer mat to protect my knees and elbows, but also wanted a good grip for my feet and hands. Frankly, since I’ve relied upon natural rubber & hemp mats, I was skeptical about this mat, but after a month of using it (Hatha, Yin & some Vinyassa), I’m very happy with it! Although not as non skid as rubber, if you utilize the ribs of the weave, it’s very effective and satisfying, plus enhances your feeling of space during your practice. I like putting the Oko towel on top for Yin for an extra smooth glide in passive postures. Very happy! Thank you! And my knees thank you, too!
A new adventure
As others have stated, It’s a beautiful mat and I’m glad that I got it because of the natural fibers and kindness to the earth. I’m still adjusting to the different feel and texture of this mat. I don’t practice vigorous yoga or sweat at all, so I appreciate knowing I can spritz on water for more grip. Activating the abs to get better grip is where I see the biggest benefit which is what I was looking for. For restorative yoga or Pilates, I still prefer my old mat but I’ll be seeing yet how that works. It is a very long mat and heavy, and I’m good with that, it stays on my sun porch.

I love this mat so much! I have been doing yoga for 30 years and this is, by far, my favorite mat. I bought a second one just to have it in 2 colors. Highly recommend!!
